Gidgeting again

I’ve just returned from our annual Gidget teardrop camp at the beautiful Mt Beauty. As usual the area looked resplendent in its pretty autumn colours. And as usual, the weather fluctuated between chilly mornings and warm sunny days, with a little less favourable weather that was mostly overnight rain.

While I’m usually well prepared for the cooler weather, this year I forgot to change doonas and had only my summer weight one with me. To make matters worse, my diesel heater wouldn’t work (wondering if it’s connected to the failure of my diesel cooktop while camping at Hopetoun last month). Thankfully I was on a powered site and someone in the group brought a fan heater that I was able to borrow. Several nights were still a little on the uncomfortable side of cool for me – even with Mala snuggled at the end of my bed.

One evening, the sunset looked like the landscape on fire!

I didn’t get as many walks in this time: partly because of threatening rain, but I’m also slowing down a bit with arthritis.

As usual, the camp dinner and trivia nights were fun. And gathering around a blazing fire each evening was a welcome respite from the chill. Clearly, we enjoyed ourselves as most will be making the return trip next year.
